Marketing is something that is done to introduce or promote a product, business or service. Example: We would market a car Dealership. Marketing can consist of a person standing on the corner with a Statue suit on waving at you to promote Liberty Tax service, or It could also be a fully targeted radio campaign. These are just a few examples. There are thousands of innovative ways to market a business. Marketing will bring customers to a business where as selling happens once a customer enters the business. Marketing can also be how a particular shelf is laid out. Sales are person to person. One on one. When selling you are demonstrating and giving benefits of a product, or service to the customer. Example: We would market a hair salon in order to let people of a demographic know that we are there and the services we offer. Once a customer arrives it would be the employees of the Salon's who's job it is from that point to sale the customer on getting there hair cut there and the additional products that they buy. Sales is part of customer service. If sales are done properly they will not only make the sale at hand they will create a life long relationship with a customer that will be a customer for many years to come.
