They do not pray to Buddah, but they do admire him. The goal of Buddhism is to live your life with no reliability to anyone or anything. Once you finally reach this state where you are attached to nothing and no person, then you are able o reach Zen. This is why they are only allowed 4 things, a needle, alms bowl, razor, and a water strainer (discluding their robe).

So the answer is no. They want to become like Buddah, in the sense that they want to disattach themselves from anyone and anything, but they do not pray to Buddah.

Buddha is the figure through which Buddhists worship the Supreme Self, much like Christians worship God the Father through Jesus Christ. The Buddha is not the worshipped but is the path to that which is worshipped.

Buddhists don't pray to anyone. Buddhists chant and pray to gain insight and understand the Buddha nature that is in all sentient beings including themselves. The Buddha that is in side themselves is awakened via these prayers. The prayers are a vibration that is caused by the person praying. This creates the cause to attain Buddhahood. The Buddha was a person but Buddhahood is a state of being where a human being reaches nirvana and attains enlightenment.

We pray, but our prayers are different than that of other religions. We do not pray to any God or person. The purpose of Buddhist prayer is to awaken our inherent inner capacities of strength, compassion and wisdom.

The concept of "praying" and "praying to" is foreign to Buddhism.
Praying is generally a supplication to a deity for intervention, protection, salvation, or a show of obedience and so on. Buddhism has no deity so there is no one there to pray to. Buddhists believe that a person comes to enlightenment by their own initiative not by intervention or "salvation"
For those non-Buddhists that claim that the Buddha is the god in Buddhism. He is not. He is a man who by his own efforts became enlightened. The charm of the Buddha is that if he can become enlightened we can all do the same for ourselves by following the Eightfold Path.

It would depend on the tradition followed. Thedavara, the most ancient tradition does not worship any God at all. Marayana Buddhism and it's many aspects, most common forms of which are Tibetan and Zen, do worship Gods, but not in the same manner as the Judeo-Christian-Islamic faiths.

Buddhists do not worship any gods or beings, so the term worship as applied to what we Buddhists do is incorrect. We practice putting the teachings of the Buddha into every action, every thought and every word spoken. One of our main practices is meditation. We have temples were monks and nuns live and practice together and have group meditations.
