Traditionally, Germans keep their tree up for about one month, but this may well be a tradition not followed as much any more. They put up their Christmas tree for St Nicholas Day, which is on 6 December. The tree remains there until 6 January, which is Epiphany, the date celebrated in German Lutheran churches to signify when the wise men came to visit baby Jesus.
