Katniss feels more for Peeta than Gale because Gale killed Prim, and she knows that she can never forgive him for that, or stop remembering it so that they can heal and be together again. Gale ends up leaving, and she never sees him again.
Katniss and Peeta love each other very much, and in the epilogue of Mockingjay, they have been married for an estimated 15-20 years. In the epilogue, they have two children, a girl who is estimated to be about 5-8 years old at the time, and a boy who is guessed to be around 2 or 3.
