Best Answer

Yes. You pay the salaries of all government employees.

ANSWER: The above answer does not answer the question but answers some question not asked on this page. Not only do "taxpayers" pay Senators and all other government employees salaries, all people who pay taxes pay these salaries. There is a clear distinction between these two sets of people. The "taxpayer" has been clearly defined by the Internal Revenue Code to be one who is subject to any internal revenue tax. This limits the scope of people who are involved in paying government salaries. More people than taxpayers pay those salaries. It is a fallacious argument to assert that all people are subject to any internal revenue tax and therefore all people are taxpayers. This is not true. It is a mistake of fact, a misinterpretation of law and quite possible fraud, whether constructive or otherwise to imply that everybody who earns income is subject to the Personal Income Tax Laws. I don't know if you are a taxpayer and neither does the person who answered above. Only you and the one with legal authority to assess your liability can know the answer to that. It is best you find out for yourself if you are a taxpayer as specifically defined by the Code or if you are not. It diminishes us all to reduce everybody who earns income to the status of "taxpayer". Have you heard the complaints about government incompetence and plunder as people say' "As I taxpayer I have rights". The irony of this statement is that as a "taxpayer" as specifically defined by the Internal Revenue Code your rights have been greatly diminished. Don't take my word on this, find out for yourself. Read the Taxpayer Bill of Rights and then compare that clever legislation with the actual Bill of Rights and try find the similarities. It's hard to find any rights listed in the Taxpayer Bill of Rights and it isn't any easier to find even some sort of privilege granted the taxpayer by the government. As a "taxpayer" you have the right to give up all previous possession of rights that would require any due process of law. You have the right to surrender your property before any conviction has been handed down, often times before you've even been charged with any crime and you have the right to be presumed guilty and it is incumbent upon you to prove your innocence and the prosecution or tax court does not have to prove a thing. This is the reality of a taxpayer. People who fall outside of the jurisdiction of the Internal Revenue Laws maintain their natural rights and are not required to do any thing in regards to the I.R.S. which appears to be more preferable than being a taxpayer. Are you a taxpayer? What made you a taxpayer? What made you subject to any internal revenue laws? What is the subject of the tax in question? These are the questions each and every person should ask themselves before going into agreement with being a taxpayer as specifically defined by the Internal Revenue Code. Taxes are necessary to keep the plodding and ponderous burden of government moving. But every body should only have to pay the tax that they owe and nothing more. If you are not liable for any income tax then why would you pay it.

The reason millions of people who are not engaged in any taxed activity that would make them liable for any income tax are paying the tax anyway is because of mistake of fact, misinterpretation of law, willful fraud, coercion and blackmail to name just a few reasons. To explain this fraud in it's simplest form, imagine you are renting an apartment and after one year your landlord comes to you and informs you that you owe him one more month of rent. You tell him you don't understand and explain you have paid rent each month on time and at the first of the month. Your landlord says; "Yes, I know but I haven't received a payment for the thirteenth month." You stare at him dumbfounded and mutter: "I don't understand." Your landlord patiently and calmly informs you that each year you are required to pay 13 months of rent. You try to remain calm as you explain there are only 12 months in a year. Your landlord continues to insist that you are required to pay for the thirteenth month. You finally, in disgust, give him a piece of your mind and ask him where he gets off pulling such a ridiculous stunt and he calmly informs you that it is the law. "What law?" You ask with jaw dropped amazement. Your landlord points to a book shelf with several volumes of books and says; "That law right over there." You walk over to the book shelf and point to the books and say: "These books right over here?" and your landlord says: "That's right." "Which one of these books" You ask and he he says "All of them". For most people it is just plain easier to pay the stupid thirteenth month and be done with it. This is how the vast majority of people in this country have become "taxpayers" but this does not mean that everybody has gone along with this nonsense. Not everybody in the United States is a "taxpayer" but virtually everybody pays taxes. Do you understand? If you don't that's good for the I.R.S., that's exactly the way they want it.

In the 2008 presidential election, the republican candidate John McCain, the democratic candidate Barack Obama, and the democratic running mate Joe Biden were all U.S. Senators. They each released tax returns indicating that they do, in fact, pay taxes on their senate salaries.
