All turtles grow to many times their hatchling and juvenile size, sea turtles grow quite large of course but the majority of currently sold pet turtles will also grow to sizes that are expensive to manage especially if female.

They most certainly do. Believe it is the way the males decide territorial issues. Watched two of them on a dive recently. The larger of the two would swim close to the other turtle before giving him a butt. The smaller one would then swim off a short distance before settling down again, only for the larger one to catch up with him again and give him another clout. This happened about 4 times, and then the smaller one had enough (seemingly) and left the area altogether.
