Chickens will eat almost anything. They should be fed a proper mix of grains and seed available at any farm feed store. Supplement that with greens and kitchen scraps or let them free range about the yard picking at weeds and bugs. Pullets / laying hens should get a layer pellet/MASH which contains higher levels of calcium and protein.
