Chickens will eat almost anything. They should be fed a proper mix of grains and seed available at any farm feed store. Supplement that with greens and kitchen scraps or let them free range about the yard picking at weeds and bugs. Pullets / laying hens should get a layer pellet/MASH which contains higher levels of calcium and protein.

∙ 14y agoIt is best to feed corn to your chickens only in cold weather as a treat to warm up the flock. Since corn does heat up the birds, it should not be fed in hot summer months. A balanced chicken feed is all your chicken really needs.
