These Dogs make a fantastic family pet,properly socialized.They are exceptionally smart dogs,and will learn almost any thing.the more it learns the better it gets. Border Collies natural herding instincts,and style of herding tend to herd small children,and will also protect the herd from danger.It also has a loud, sharp bark to get the herds attention. Border Collies have a lot of energy,and need a lot of exercise. They are very fast runners,and will chase off any thing that will run,Good voice control is essential.

∙ 14y agoFemales get along better. Males are territorial and might get mad at each other. If you must have two dogs, it is better to have two females. They dont fight much. Whereas males fight with each other more often

∙ 13y agoyes, though they will still be great by themselves and still be very friendly and living, labs are social dogs and if they had a little doggy friend to be with when you cant it would make them happy. this doggy friend doesn't have to be another lab, but come on why wouldn't you want two labs? also you get tons of complements on them if you bring them in public.

Are Border Collies easy to train?
Absolutely. As you probably know Border Collies are energetic and were used as herding dogs. Without proper training they can drive you crazy with their high energy (they need loads of exercise) and they can herd small children by bumping with their nose or nudging them. Border Collies are not generally snippy with children, but they don't realize how small a child is and could push a little too hard at times. Your dog must know who is boss and to listen on command. There are also special clubs around for Border Collie owners where everyone who owns a Border Collie can go for the fun, food and watch their pets run and play off that extensive energy.
