It depends on what kind of cat it is. Lions eat cubs from other dens all the time, but a normal house pet probably wouldn't unless there's something wrong with it. Or it could be starving and eat another cat.

∙ 14y agoMy female cats usually do eat their babies if they have died or if they are weak. I'm not sure if this can be applied to all females, but I have heard that it is common. However, males also tend to eat or mutilate kittens once they have been born because they fear the competition. I would suggest either removing the males or putting the kittens somewhere where they have protection from them. Mother cats only eat their babies for the protection of herself and other surviving litter. Because dead kitten corpse will only bring disease and mark the spot for predators to find them. ∙ 12y agoMother cats are known to eat their kittens if they are frightened, feel threatened or if something is wrong with the kitten. However, it is uncommon for a healthy mother cat to kill her own offspring.

Generally, no they do not. Tom (male) cats may sometimes kill kittens that are not their own offspring to cause the female to come back into heat. This insures that his genes are passed down to another generation. This is seen more in wild cats, and not domestic pets.
