I believe in most states this is dependent on the ages of the children, with separate sleeping areas being required once the older child approaches puberty. I don't think courts require separate bedrooms, just separate and private sleeping areas. Having one child sleep on the couch and the other in the bedroom should be sufficient, or allowing one child to have the parents bedroom while the other occupies the spare room and dad/mom crashes out in the living room.

A boy and girl can cetainly share a bedroom. The ages of them are a consideration. My niece and nephew, now ages 14 and 12, have shared a bedroom since birth. On family outings they frequently share a bed.

Most boys and girls should be separated at the onset of puberty.

Their mother (my sister) and I did the same growing up, from birth til she was 18 and I 19. Our parents could only afford a two bedroom apartment. We both started puberty about the same time, when she was 9 and I was 10. Because we were a nudist family, there was no overt curiosity or shame associated with nudity.

One of the risks of boys and girls sharing a bedroom is sex play between them, potentially leading to intercourse (incest). My sister and I did have sex with each other for over eight years. It began innocently as simply curious touching. As a result of being at ease with each as siblings, we experimented and learned how to sexually satisfy each other more than most teenagers would ever be able to do. Both of our spouses admit that we were much better lovers than they when we first met.

Admittedly, our families are unique and we suffered no ill effects. That can't be said for everyone.

Can children of the opposite sex share a room in Florida?

After some reading, I've determined that unless it is a foster care situation and the children are not related, there is no law stating that siblings of the opposite sex can not share a room. In fact, it appears that they can share a room indefinitely, unless they don't want to. I am not an expert on this at all, just a regular person researching the topic.
