What should I do I cut the bottom of your toe very badly and it hurts every time I walk?

Clean the wound (make sure your tetanus shots are up to date) dress it and take it easy on the foot. Try not to walk on it if it can be avoided.

How do you treat your foot that got punctured by a rusty pin?

While rust actually carries no dangers in and of itself, tetanus passes through fecal matter, which is often found on the ground. So, anything that creates a wound -- especially a puncture wound (which can close over and make a little pocket of infection) that was on the ground, means you need to be current on your tetanus vaccine. You need to renew your tetanus vaccination at least every 10 years. If you're current, clean out the wound as best you can with running water, then with soap and water. Hit it with an antiseptic like hydrogen peroxide, and bandage. Wound-check it (i.e., un-bandage the wound, look it over, then rewrap with a clean bandage) the next day. If you aren't current on your tetanus vaccination, you need to get one ASAP.

What to do to a dog if they get a rusty nail on their foot?

Since injuries such as stepping on a rusty nail can result in dogs contracting tetanus (lockjaw) just as it does humans. And, while some dogs do have a higher immunity to it than humans do, you still need to take your dog to the veterinarian ASAP. Death from tetanus can be avoided by early medical treatment, which involves tetanus antitoxins, antibiotics, sedatives, IV fluids, and care of the wound. If you are absolutely unable to take your dog to a vet immediately, call your local emergency animal clinic and talk to the vet on duty. They will often advise you by phone at no charge. But if there isn't one in your area, you need to clean the wound thoroughly with soap and water, being sure to flush the wound well after cleaning it with a liberal amount of soap. Then apply an antibiotic or anti infective ointment and cover with gauze to prevent the dog from licking off the medicine from its foot. And then call or take you dog to the vet ASAP - your dog's life may depend on it.

What could happen to you if you had your tetanus shot more than half a year ago and a whitepainted nail goes through the bottom of your right foot?

You should pour rubbing alcohol on the wound and then wrap it in plastic wrap to avoid bacteria. If you are out of rubbing alcohol use vinegar and salt to clean the wound.

How do you get a toothpick out of your foot?

Treat as you would any splinter. If it can be pulled out using forceps, the wound should be sterilized. A tetanus shot is also recommended for any puncture injury.Infected splinters require prompt professional medical care.

What happens when you stepped on a nail?

Pull it out, it hurts like crazy, but pull it out. Wash the wound, then keep your foot elevated, and stay off of it for a few hours. Definately go to a walkin clinic or doctors office for an updated Tetanus shot sooner than later as well.

Do you got to the hospital if a needle went about an inch through a muscle in your foot?

Probably a good idea, if only to keep up on your tetanus shots. I'm assuming sewing needle, and I'm assuming it didn't partially break off in the wound (another good reason for the doctor!). If you're up on your tetanus and the needle came out intact, there's likely not a lot to be done -- your body will heal that just fine. However, if you mean a hypodermic needle, if it's been used you have a real reasons to go to the doc's, and that would be blood born pathogens. If this is the case, head on in real soon.

What illnesses would you get in world war one?

When do I need a tetanus shot?

As I understand, there is no last required tetanus shot. The vaccinations for tetanus are administered every ten years after the age of 6 years old. Before the age of six years old, a tetanus and diptheria vaccination is given when one is an infant, I believe. Exception is when one experiences in particular a deep would. If this occurs, a tetanus vaccination is given as what is called post-exposure prophylaxis. What that means is that the vaccination for tetanus is given due to the possibility that, due to the wound, one may have been exposed to the bacteria that causes the disease of tetanus. After the tetanus vaccination is given, it may take up to two weeks for the formulation of antibodies to prevent acquiring the disease of tetanus.
