Its not a good idea to regularly feed a dog cat food as the nutritional needs of a canine are different than a feline. It will not hurt your dog and it is better than letting it go hungry. When there are both dogs and cats in a home the dogs often eat the leftovers.

Cat food is very high in protein and fat compared to dog food, so it is likely that dogs would prefer cat food, as it would naturally taste better. Due to the higher fat and protein content, cat food could cause weight gain in a dog if it eats cat food on a regular basis.

This is a very painful condition with vomiting and diarrhea. I just wouldn't risk it. If that doesn't work you can try boiling the dog food and then after it cools down you can give it the boiled food every dog i know loves it
