No, they do not, that is an adaptation specific to hamsters, not gerbils.
They are different ones gerbils are out of the many. You can go to Google and type cheek pouches in and click on images. B.T.W some stuff are nasty.
i believe they have pouches to store food in just in case the food around them goes scarce
Well, squirrels for one. Though, undoubtedly there are others. maybe rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, etc.
Hamster and gerbils do not have different food the eat the same food and love the same treats.
Yes! In fact, ALL hamster food is made for Hamsters AND Gerbils! It is perfectly fine to give gerbils the hamster food, and also to give hamsters gerbil food!
No. Rats are rodents, not marsupials, so they do not have pouches.
food
There are pouches on hamsters and they will be inside of there mouth they are to store food in them if they don't feel like eating it. :-)
no!
I don't really know how much food they can put in their cheek pouches, but i do know that they can hold up to 20 pounds of food.
it has 2 pouches on either side of its mouth and the hamster will store it in there and then find somewhere quiet and empty the pouches and eat the food.
I think so.. my guinea pig seems to get really fat in her cheecks when she eats
