Yes!
Guinea pigs have a whole plethora of vocal noises. Some are slightly more obvious than others and can have a reason for them. Squeaking is most often about excitement, for example the anticipation of getting a tasty food treat. If they make a low chirping noise often referred to as a purr it can mean that they feel threatened or frightened. Very much depends on their body language as well as the noise, if you are trying to establish why they are making that sound.
Most guinea pigs make a squealing noise of excitement. Many whistle, some whistle very loud.
When upset, the can also grumble; a pretty audible and low sound that makes the whole animal tremble. They support the grumbling with teeth clattering at times. The grumbling sounds is a sign of aggression, and often precedes a fight.
Guineas make either a low rumbling sound or most frequently, they will chatter their teeth when scared or mad.
Very few animals like loud noises (the one notable exception being certain humans).
