They quills have no venom and are not projectile. They are harmless if the hedgehog is bathed regularly - unless you step on one!
A hedge hog does have spiky fur but it is not poky enough to really hurt. If you pet one the wrong way it is not very comfy, lol, but it is not like porcupines where the quills are super sharp and can draw blood or stick in your skin or anything like that.
