Is a psyd the same as a clinical psychologist?

A PsyD is a Doctor of Psychology degree, while a clinical psychologist is a professional who has completed a doctoral program in psychology and specializes in evaluating and treating mental health disorders. Not all PsyD holders become clinical psychologists, as some may work in other areas such as research or education.

How much money does a PsyD make?

It depends on where you live. Different areas of the country pay differently. However, in California, a Psy.D. makes anywhere from 75,000 - 110,000 per year. A Ph.D. working for the state makes the same amount.

What are the disciplines of psychology?

Is parapsychology and psychology the same?

Psychology is the general field of inquiry into human and animal behavior and perception. Parapsychology is a field of inquiry into exceptional experiences. So while there are similarities they are not one and the same. For example, parapsychology research includes not only studies of cognition (as does psychology) but also studies in what is called 'perturbation' or the ability of the mind to influence the environment. This type of study is not done in scientific psychology.

Can you get a PHD or PSYD in clinical psychology in a different state than the state that you want to practice?

Absolutely! Most people do, in my experience. It doesn't matter where the school is (as long as they are an APA accredited program). The doctorate will apply anywhere in the US. Also, the national exam (EPPP) for initial licensure is the same no matter what state you're in. When you take the state licensing exam you must do it in the state you wish to practice in. Although, some states have reciprocity with each other (e.g. if you're licensed in Nebraska, Iowa might recognize your license). And, some states are notoriously harder to get licensed in than others (Illinois, New York, & California).

Yes you can, however, the MFT license is administered by the Board of Behavioral Science in California and the psychology license by the board of pychology. You have to complete 3,000 hours for an MFT license and the same for a psychology license but you can do one and count it for both. You have to do two internships which deters most people. Electron carriers and energy carriers are related but not the same. Electron carriers (such as NADH and FADH2) transfer electrons in biochemical reactions, while energy carriers (such as ATP) store and transfer energy for cellular processes. Electrons are involved in the flow of energy within cells, but energy carriers can involve other forms of energy besides electrons.
