∙ 10y agoKakapo are the world's only flightless, nocturnal parrot. Being nocturnal, that is, only coming out at night, is a defence mechanism. Quite simply, there are fewer predators around at night. The kakapo is only able to climb trees to escape predators, so by being nocturnal, it can avoid some of the potential predators.
