It will probably take longer to conceive if you have PCOS. Chances are your periods are irregular which means you aren't ovulating, which means you can't get pregnant. Talk to your doctor about how you can regulate your periods with diet and medication (Metformin is a common treatment). Clomid can also be used to induce ovulation.
Don't lose hope though, you can get pregnant with PCOS, it just may take longer.

Some women with PCOS do not have irregular periods and can get pregnant with little difficulty, while some women find that their periods stop almost all together. However, with treatment for either PCOS or fertility, the chances for conception and full-term pregnancy are much higher (estimated as high as 70%).

The pill does not mean that it is totally impossible to become pregnant. Life has got a will to achieve the impossible. A dear friend of mine got pregnant whilst on the pill. her daughter is now 4 and is a cheerfull happy addition to the family.
