Centipedes can have from 20 to 300 legs, depending on species, while millipedes have from 36 to 750 legs. So Illacme Pleniples, a type of millipede, has more legs than any centipede, but Glomeris Marginata, a millipede with 36 legs, has less legs than, for example, Nannarrup Hoffmani, a centipede with 84 legs.

I hate to disappoint you but they only have about 400 legs, two pair of legs on each segment of their body.

There is a great variety species of millipedes so some have a few more legs (or a few less) but nothing like 1000000.

comment All millipedes have an even amount of legs, but regardless of species they all have an uneven amount of pairs of legs, so the number of legs will never end in ~00.

Yes, millipedes do have many legs. Contrary to popular belief though, they don't have 1000 legs, as their name suggests.

How are centipedes different from millipede?

Despite the fact that the name "centipede" means 100 legs and "millipede" means 100 legs, centipedes do not have 100 legs and millipedes do not have 1000 legs. It has been found that no species of millipede has more than 400 legs. One of the main differences between centipedes and millipedes is that centipedes have one pair (i.e.two legs) on each segment and millipedes have two pairs (i.e. four legs) on most segments. Centipedes move more quickly than millipedes.Centipedes are also more flexible, with a more flattened body than millipedes, which have a more cylindrical body. Centipedes tend to prefer dryer, more arid environments, while millipedes prefer moist deciduous forests.
