Darwinism was suggested in the 19th century by Charles Darwin. However, it wasn't the first time that this theory was introduced. Many people in the age of Greek mythology who are called nature philosophers had come up with similar assumptions. Darwinism was, in fact, an extension to those philosophies.

Darwinism is a theory supported by a large body of evidence. Major academic institutions highly recognize this theory and major textbooks in Biology and other sciences (including Social Sciences) are based on this theory. Darwinism currently receives a high degree of acceptance among the public in Europe, reaching over 90% in France, Norway, Sweden and other countries with high levels of scientific literacy and standards of education. Rejection of evolutionary theory amongst the highly educated is limited to a few proponents of intelligent design or creationism, although the theory is much more widely rejected amongst religious laymen.

Darwinism, a term used in reference to evolution and natural selection, is widely accepted. There is a simple reason for this: it has an overwhelming volume of hard facts to support the idea. To suggest that Darwinism has no proof is ludicrous, mindless. Look at what Darwin said starting with one of his most remarkable insights.

Darwin gave us the idea of the tree of life. This brilliant stroke, the proffering that as time passes, life changes, and over long periods, life evolves and "morphs" into other distinct life, is that tree. This has extraordinary meaning when one views the broad tapestry that is life on earth. From the awe inspiring fossil record to the stunning and breathtaking panorama of living species, a thinking viewer could not read the "script" written upon the face of the planet and deny what is before him.

Modern evolutionary synthesis (MES) takes into account the twists and turns life has taken when living things have been molded as clay by the patient and implacable hands of time. Geologic activity (from the gradual to the catastrophic), climate change and the low probability, high consequence events like the arrival of a rock from space (as well as all the other factors at work in the ongoing dynamic transformation of the big blue marble) do one other thing: they change the living things that are riding this ball on its trip about the Milky Way. The fact is inescapable.

Legally yes.

Strictly speaking, evolution is a process, not a theory. Evolution by Natural Selection is a model or theory of evolution that describes how organisms mutate and change over time. Evolution by Natural Selection is called a theory because it is an explanation of the observed facts and is constantly changing to fit new evidence.

There are, however, instances where certain kinds of evolution is observable to a one person over a short period of time. While the common descent of minor closely linked taxa can be witnessed directly and must therefore be regarded as fact, the common descent of major taxa is technically still a hypothesis, since, although it is supported by all the observations, it cannot be observed directly.

A lot of people still believe in darwnism, infact more and more people are being converted from being religious, to believing that Darwin is right. Of course I believe in God and angels, but I'm sure if you went around looking for people who has to have a reasonable explanation for everything, I'm sure more then a few of them would believe Darwin.

Answer:Darwinism is a term used in place of "Evolution" by creationists in a vaguely insulting manner. It was originally used by Thomas Henry Huxley to distinguish Darwin's proposals on evolution from others. As the term is descriptive of Darwin's original theory, and the present concepts of evolution include Mendel's proposals and the findings of modern scientists, the phrase Darwinism is not often used.

With regard to the Theory of Evolution, almost every scientist in the world who works in the area biology, genetics, zoology and related fields accepts the Theory as the best available description of the evolution of life from its beginnings to the present day.

With regard to the acceptance of evolution worldwide, the populations of most countries of the world overwhelmingly believe in evolution (See National Geographic Data at Link). The lowest percent of belief occurs in Turkey and the United States

It depends on who you ask. Darwin's theory is accepted by most professional scientists today. To a large extent, our understanding of genetics, biochemistry, and ecology support Darwin's theory.

Most of Darwin's theory remains relevant today. A species has the ability to grow geometrically with unlimited resources. This is tempered by the fact that there are limited resources and there is a need to compete for these resources. Individuals that have adaptations to help attain these resources, are more likely to reproduce and pass on those traits. The species that cannot reach the resources due to competition may become extinct. This is the basis of Darwin's theory of Natural Selection and is still applicable today.

Scientists that have added to Darwin's theory have proposed different ideas and some have validity and some do not. These are considered Darwinistic theory, (RNA world, pre-biotic soup) and there is evidence for both sides of the matter.

New evidence is appearing and the opinion of reputable scientists continues to support Darwin's theory. It is taught in the majority of Biology classes and has not been falsified. There is tremendous evidence for Natural Selection and it is still valid today.

Yes. Virtually 100% of professional biologists accept evolution, about 95% of scientists in general accept evolution, and almost every National or International Academy of Science has issued one or more official statements that evolution is valid science backed up by evidence.

Among the general public, a survey of 18 developed nations found majority support for evolution in 16. The U.S. was second to last, with an even split on the issue. Turkey was the only surveyed nation where a majority of the general public rejected evolution.

Why is theistic evolution a widely accepted theory?

Technically, theistic evolution isn't a theory. It's a religious belief. It's a belief that's widely held because many people feel that accepting the scientific theory of evolution does not conflict with their theistic beliefs.

Evolution is a widely accepted scientific theory, but it is still a theory. It cannot be absolutely proven, it can only be supported by evidence. There are unknown facts about the theory, such as how/where the first cell(s) originated.

Why are patterns important to scientific theory?

When developing a theory, finding patterns increase its credibility. For example, evolution. It started as a mere theory. It grew and became widely accepted as fact but only because we can find patterns in evolution, particular traits being continued on through generations.
