Raccoons do not migrate. They maintain a home territory all year round. The also do not truly hibernate. Although raccoons in colder climates do sleep for long periods of time during the winter, they are still active on warmer nights and when searching for a mate in January and February.

∙ 15y agoRacoons don't so much hibernate, rather they metabolically slow down. Their heart and respitory rates decrease dramatically during the winter months causing them to sleep through long periods of both day and night. During the fall, spring and summer months they are generally nocturnal with only females mothering kits ventruing out during daylight hours to provide food for their offspring. During winter warm spells both male and females will leave their dens in search of nourishment .

∙ 8y agoNo, raccoons do not hibernate in winter, they remain active almost the entire season. If the weather turns bad, they remain in their dens and sleep until conditions improve but is not a true hibernation.
