A bitter taste is associated with high pH (which is to say, pH over 7). Various chemicals can cause that. I personally doubt that it is a cause for concern. You weren't going to drink the salt water anyway.

Can babies swim in a saltwater pool?

it depends on whether the person is salt sensitive or not. in my pool some people say they can taste a salt flavor in the pool water and other people can't taste anything. it also depends on the type of chlorine generator you have installed some systems require more salt than others to operate so if you are salt sensitive look for a system that requires a lower level of salt to operate correctly. my system operates at 2900 ppm to 4000 ppm when i keep it at the higher end of the range more people can taste the salt than if i keep it at the lower end. hope this helps

If something taste bitter is it an acid base or salt?

According to another question i looked up that was similier bases taste bitter. Acids taste sour. I'm not really sure about the salt but i would think you would be able to tell what salt tastes like yourself.

Is saltwater pools sore on your eyes?

True salt water pools have the same parts per million (ppm) as sea water which is roughly 35,000 ppm. We have a salt taste threshold of around 3,500 ppm and our eyes have about 7,000ppm. Most chlorine generators require a salt content of 3,000-5,000 ppm in the pool. You will feel the salt in a true salt water pool, most people don't notice the salt in a pool with a chlorine generator.

What is a salt water swimming pool?

A salt water pool has a chlorine generator on it that turns sodium chloride into chlorine gas. The water in the pool is not like the ocean, you can't taste the salt and it doesn't sting your eyes. The water isn't as harsh on clothing, eyes, skin and hair as chlorine is.

How do you convert a fresh water pool to a salt water pool?

Can you use salt and chlorine in your pool?

Yes as a mater of fact that is what salt water pool normally is. With a salt water pool there is a electronic salt water chlorinator installed that uses the salt in the water to create chlorine. However if you don't have a salt water chlorinator and prefer the feeling of a salt water pool then there is no reason not to add salt to the pool as well as keeping up the chlorine yourself.
