Yes and is very worth your while to install it...Google Badger Ridge Remington 209 conversion kit. Badger Ridge has the best one, and has lots of blog pages and videos about it.
That depends on the make and model.
It's either a model 14 or it replacement 141, the cutoff would be 1935. The mOdel 141/141A was made in .30 Remington caliber from 1936 until 1950. The Model 141 Carbine was made from 1936 until 1942, also in .30 Remington caliber. The .30 Remington caliber was designed to compete with the .30-30 Winchester cartridge but without the rim that the .30-30 used. The reason for the spiraled magazine tube on the Model 14 and 141's is that the owner could shoot a more pointed projectile and not have the bullet tip rest against the primer of the cartridge in front of it possibly causing that primer to ignite that cartridge. A well designed rifle by John Pederson of the Remington design department.
By 870 I assume you mean the Model 870 shotgun? If so, there would be no purpose for that type of conversion. Shotshell primers are of the 209 size. The 209 "conversion" is done with muzzle loaders. The idea is to replace the muzzle loader nipple (that holds the cap) with a conversion unit that uses the 209 shotshell primer to get more positive ignition of the black powder.
yes there is a breech plug that Remington sell for a 209 primer however there is one sold through cabelas for 40-50 bucks that is Canadian made and has alot less blow back then the Remington conversion while your weather shroud is on. cheaper solution but a musket cap nipple and shot those basically as fast as the 209 with out the blow back problems
Not sure what you mean by a "center-shot". The Model 512 is a .22 caliber rimfire rifle. This means that the rim of the cartridge case is the primer and once the rim is struck by the firing pin, the primer mix then ignites the gunpowder inside the cartridge case causing the bullet to move forward.
