Best Answer

No. Toads do not like water, most people think they do but they actually don't they just drink it. How I know that, is because when it rains toads pop out of their holes and go under shelter because they don't want to get drowned from the splashes.

Toads spend a large amount of their adult lives away from water, but must return to it to breed. The eggs and tadpoles remain in water.

They spend most of their time hiding away in cool, slightly damp places such as under fallen trees and rocks in nature, and beneath garden-sheds and behind wood-piles in gardens. (My neighbour and I share our gardens with a small colony of frogs, and these too spend a lot of time out of the ponds.)
