The rate at which a candle burns is dependent on the size and composition of the wick, and the thickness, composition, and melting / vaporization rate of the candle wax. The composition of the candle is far more important to the burn rate than the color.

They burn at a different rate, but if so, slightly.

It really comes down to a few things:

1) Concentration of colorants.

2) The kind of colorant (dye, pigment, liquids, cake solids, etc.)

3) The quality of the colorant (the size of the "solids" used in the color... high quality colorants have particles that can easily pass through the wick and NOT clog the wick.)

The funny part is that even some white candles are made with kinds of colorants that can clog the wick even more!! A white candle without any colorant at all will likely burn longer than, for example, a black candle made with low-quality colorant. This is because the colorant may have large particles within itself that may clog the wick.

Any significative difference, the color is not so important in this case; possible the burning of the white candles is slower because they don't contain dyes.

The most important for burning speed are the type of wax and the type of wick.

First, you must set the candles 4 inches apart. Next, mark a line one inch down from the wick of each candle. Make sure to light them all at once. Every couple of minutes, the candles should be measured and the results should be written down.

White candles burn slower than colored candles. The darker the candle, the faster it will burn. White reflects heat away from the candle, so it will burn slower, according to MadSci Network. Black, on the other hand, absorbs light and heat, making the candle burn faster.

In my experience of helping students to make candles, the rate at which a candle burns depends on the ratio of the wax to the hardener. The ratios of each varies depending on whether or not the candles are meant to burn for a long time or a short time. Their are also two types of wax mainly used in candle making, synthetic made of paraffin and natural which is usually made of beeswax. In answer to your question, if two candles have exactly the same ratio then, no, the colour or the scent does not make a difference to how they burn. Candles are scented with essential oils which makes no difference. They are coloured with super coulourd with super concentrated pieces of wax also producing no effect. The white candles to which I believe you are referring burn faster because they are made mainly of paraffin which is cheap without much hardener ( which is expensive) Scented candles are usually more expensive because they have better quality ingredients and more hardener. One more thing to consider is the wick as different sizes and thicknesses has an effect on the burn time. Hope this helps!!

Yes, because it will always burn at a different rate. Most candles never burn and stop at the exact same place. So, it will always burn at a different rate.
