According to the 2003 Ford Thunderbird owners manual : The spark plug firing order for the 3.9 liter V8 is ( 1 - 5 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 3 - 7 - 8 ) It has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils The engine cylinder locations would be numbered : firewall 4 - 8 3 - 7 2 - 6 1 - 5 front of 2003 Ford Thunderbird , 3.9 liter V8 engine

This is the HO engine which is different from the standard 5.0. The firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 Distributor rotates counterclockwise. Number 1 cylinder is located passenger side, front of engine.
