Bible AnswerThe Bible shows we ARE a soul and our spirit is the active life-force (breath) in each of us.

This is what the bible says about the soul and spirit. Gen. 2:7: "God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul." The bible does not say that man wasGIVEN a soul but that he BECAME a soul, a living person.Eccl. 12:7: "Then the dust returns to the earth just as it happened to be and the spirit or, life-force; Hebrew, ru′ach] itself returns to the true God who gave it." The Hebrew word for spirit is ru′ach; but the word translated soul is ne′phesh. The text does not mean that at death the spirit travels all the way to the personal presence of God; rather, any prospect for the person to live again rests with God. In similar usage, we may say that, if required payments are not made by the buyer of a piece of property, the property "returns" to its owner.NE, and Dy all here render ru′ach as "spirit." NAB reads "life breath." Ezek. 18:4: "The soul that is sinning---it itself will die." (RS, NE,KJ, and Dy all render the Hebrew word ne′pheshin this verse as "soul," thus saying that it is thesoul that dies. Some translations that render ne′phesh as "soul" in other passages use the expression "the man" or "the one" in this verse. Ne′phesh, the soul, is the person, not an immaterial part of him that survives when his body dies.

The spirit has a number of meanings. All of them refer to that which is invisible to human sight and which gives evidence of force in motion. The Hebrew and Greek words are used with reference to (1) wind, (2) the active life-force in earthly creatures, (3) the impelling force that issues from a person's figurative heart and that causes him to say and do things in a certain way, (4) inspired utterances originating with an invisible source, (5) spirit persons, and (6) God's active force, or holy spirit. When we die Ps. 146:4 says "His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish." Some translators render it "breath." When that spirit (ru′ach,) or ACTIVE LIFE FORCE, leaves the body, the person's thoughts perish; they do not continue in another realm.

The "soul" is a human concept, referring to consciousness. Scientifically, we do not have souls, everything that makes you you happens in your brain and dies with it.

Yes man has a Soul. Man is made up for Spirit, Soul and Body. We know what a body and no one dines that these is a body because science can study it as it is physical. Science cannot study something that is not physical. Any study of something that is not physical is not considered science by the scientific world. Buy it is absolutely stupid to say that something that science cannot study does not exist.

Soul is also known as mind. It is the ability to think and rationalise.

Spirit is the innermost person.

Spiritual and religious belief systems teach this.

The following are some of the ways these different components of the human being are described in Christian teaching:

1 Thessalonians 5:23 (King James Version)23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; andI pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.Matthew 22:37 (King James Version)37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.Mark 12:30 (King James Version)30And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

This final one comes closest to the formulation in the question.

..........yes,this is true above

but to accually expain each one well

you see we have our physical body...on the out side and inside.the inside is used as gods temple after you accept him.

our mind is what gives us thought and controls the temple...our body remember^

god created us in his image, well in the 1st chpt of genesis it says gods spirit was among the waters,so we also must have a spirit

our souls are what goes to either heaven or hell after we die....well all this is is wat i get from it ..if i am wrong please inform me

Technically the spirit is something slightly different then a soul. Soul and spirit are technically the same thing but in my opinion there's a difference. Soul, is what gives you knowing consciousness and spirit is what gives you will power to be. Everyone has a soul and spirit, to my understanding. Yes, I do have a spirit.

We have as yet not fully understood the functioning and capacity of Human brain. In such a scenario it is quite futile to search for an entity like soul. It is our wish to be eternal that prompts us to believe in soul.

Yes, that is what tradition states. This tradition is traceable worldwide, going all the way back, and is one of the meanings contained in Genesis 2:7. It is closely connected to the belief in life after death.

Everyone may have a different opinion on this. Some will say we have a soul and a spirit, some will say a soul only, while others will say that a person's soul is exactly the same as a spirit. With such a diversity of opinions, I am pleased to be able to say that I have neither a soul nor a spirit, just as no one else does.

Some believe they do; some don't. It's hard to prove, one way or the other.

In order to believe in the possibility of continued existence after death, it is necessary to believe that humans have a soul. Otherwise, there is no reason to imagine that souls exist.

Why do humans have a larger forehead than chimps?

Humans have a larger forehead than chimps because God had put everyone completely different on this planet. Chimps have nothing to do with humans relationship. Chimps have a smaller brain than humans because humans have a soul and through that soul they think a lot and need a larger mind than any other creature because a human is a unique creature sent from God.
