Do you have an eating disorder if you're a 13-year-old female and you've been purging on and off for approximately two years but no one knows about and if so what is it called?

It's called bulimia (bull-EE-mee-ah)and it can be a very serious eating disorder leading to malnutrition, damage to your esohpagus and tooth enamel and death. At the core of most eating disorders is a body image issue. Counseling and a doctor's supervision is imperative to overcome the disorder. There's no shame in having it and you're far from alone. Talk to someone -- your parents, a friend, school counselor -- so that you stop burying the secret. There's help and there's a much happier way of life. Good luck. Answer: what its called depends on how much you purge, you said off and on for 2 years, are you purging once or twice a week or more? how long do these episodes last (days, weeks etc)? are you binging (eating large amounts of food in one sitting (1-2 hours 2000 cals or more)? or are you purging small amounts to normal sized meals?

This sounds more like ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) than bulimia nervosa. But like they said above its extremely important you talk to a trusted ADULT to help you.

Depending on one's behavior other than purging, self-induced vomiting can be a sign of bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa (purging subtype), or eating disorder not otherwise specified (ed-nos). The DSM V may also include a new eating disorder called Purging Disorder.

Anorexia is disorder that is a type of mental health disorder. It has to do with body image and obsession about weight. It is sometimes also associated with another disorder called bulimia which is about binging and purging.

That Eating Disorder is called Bulimia Nervosa and only a doctor can diagnose you. If I were you I'd stay as far away from any ED as you can!!! They are lifelong and can kill you.

It's actually just called binge eating disorder. If there isn't any purging, then it's not classified as bulimia. Also, binge eating disorder is not currently a formal diagnosis, so it would be diagnosed as "eating disorder not otherwise specified."

Forcing yourself to throw up is called purging. It is very dangerous and detrimental to your health, and can be a sign of the potentially deadly eating disorder known as bulimia nervosa.
