I'm assuming that your steering wheel has locked. Try jerking the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key to start it.
Get a new starter
Have it checked for codes, and diagnose the code.
It sounds like the inner steering shaft. I had the same problem on a 1997 Dodge Ram.
A couple of ideas; is it the right key? Have you ever lubricated the ignition switch(ANYTHING BUT WD-40) Also your steering lock might be engaged-turn the steering wheel slightly, one way or the other, while trying to turn the key.
There is air blowing out of the steering column and we need to know why this is happening?? Any ideas on why this is happening???
Spend the money to have it diagnosed by a repair shop as it will save you plenty.

If your steering wheel is shaking you probabley messed you wheels or axel up
Check that the alternator and the power steering don't work of the same belt.
Jody, I guess that you move your steering wheel while your gear selector is in park. If you turn your steering wheel either direction while in park, the key will not turn. To release, turn the steering wheel to the center and turn the key. This is an easy problem to avoid--don't touch the steering wheel when the engine is off and the gear selector is in park. Mike
