Do you have to raise the engine to change the starter on a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo?

The bolts aren't easy to get to also you have to remove the exhaust to get the starter out.

The other option is one that I used:

I disassembled the old starter to get it out as well as the new one to get it in. I then reassembled the new one in the space and bolted it on. This is not an easy task and took me over 6 hours to complete. If you are not mechanically inclined, I don't recommend this. But it will save you from having to remove the exhaust. The only thing you will need to remove is the small aluminum plate held on by two bolts that protects the wire harness. You might also need to remove the heat sink from around the exhaustmanifold, but it can be put back on with those metal screw straps.

Good luck.

No I changed my starter in the walmart parking lot with just a few tools and a flashlight. very easy to do just try to make sure the tucks not hot when doing it.

It depends, do you have an inline-4 cylinder 2.2L engine or the V-6 3.2L engine?
