It depends how long you are planning on leaving it for. If it is for overnight or longer then, yes, turn it off. If you are leaving it for less then an hour then you don't need to turn it off. If you need to leave it but are planning on going back on then there should be a hibernate or sleep option to use on your computer. Hope this helps!

However, leaving the computer on will run up a significantly higher electricity bill and isn't good for the environment.
It also increases the risk of overheating. Some changes made to the computer cannot take effect without a restart, so leaving the computer on would also prevent these.

ANSWERIt is best not to leave your computer on at all times unless you have a good reason to. This leaves your computer more vulnerable to hackers and can cause overheating. If you want to leave your computer on for automatic updates set it for a time that you will normally have your computer on and with most systems it is best that this time be when you are not using the computer, that way downloading the updates doesn't slow down what your computer while you are using it.Wiki User
∙ 14y agoYou do not have to turn off your computer every day but computers can use a lot of while doing nothing. If you don't want to shut down then a hibernate option will save all of the programs you have open and then allow you to shut down, next time you start your machine all of the same programs will be there.
