My olds has 4 wheel disc brakes, and I had to buy a kit to change the rear pads. I'm not 100% sure about the Pontiac, but Most GM rear calipers actually Screw back, unlike the front calipers, which merely push straight back. I got the kit at harbor frieght for around $40.

If the emergency brake is on the calipers, you need a special tool to compress the caliper. This should be rentable from the parts store.
