No; dressage requires trot and canter, but not jumping. You should actually know dressage before you jump.

some times a pony is on a gag bit and they put there head down after a jump try with a martingale and trot then have a few more strides of trot then canter and trot a circle before you jump
Why do horses have to canter over the course?
Horses canter over the courses because it is the easiest gait for them to collect, bring they're hind quarters underneath them and jump. If the distance to the jump is correct, the horse will jump in good form and more naturally. Also, the canter is less bumpy than the trot so it makes the rider more comfertable.

why is his back weak was he injured ,,if not injuried,,,...learn dressage concept of" on the bit" and "riding long and low.".another dressage term ..it can completely reshape a horses back...if done right and if there a no underlying veterinary problems ..get a good dressage trainer to help you
