Theodore Roosevelt declined to have a Christmas tree set up in the White House. I do not think he actually banned them. He was concerned with forest conservation and possibly objected to cutting down trees just to keep them inside for a few weeks.
Mt. Vernon is a southern plantation house that is three stories and has white Ionic columns in front. Most people when they think of a southern house think of Mt. Vernon.

I think it was a White Christmas
John Adams and his wife were the first to live in White House and they lived there for about three months moving in, in November. so one would think they did some decorating. They may have done some special decoration for Christmas . The next occupant Jefferson, lived there eight years and he saw the interior completed. If you are asking about the movie " White Christmas" they has only been one made. I don't think there has been a remake of the movie.
It was President Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, but it wasn't for religious reasons. President Roosevelt was very passionate about the environment and he worried about too many trees being cut down, so he wouldn't allow a Christmas tree at the White House.
