No, there are no species of lions in Australia in the wild, only in captivity. There are no species of any of the "big cats", nor any native cats at all in Australia. (The quoll is sometimes referred to as a native cat, but it is a marsupial and not even remotely related to cats.)

Not in the wild. but there is much evident that supports that in World War II the circus let panthers go into the Australian bush because they could not support them, reason being the war. There has been numerous sightings of these animals near Bucken and Omeo, East Gipsland, Vic, Australia. Most of these eye witnesses have been hunters and e co entoyest that go in to the very remote and nearly touchable places, looking for game animals and that allusive buck every hunter dreams of.

In nature, lions live in the grasslands of Africa, called the "savannah". The "outback" is an Australian term for the continent's remote interior desert and semi-arid regions. Therefore the answer is no. Lions do not live in the outback, as lions do not live in Australia.

There might be in the zoo but they are not a wild animal in Australia. just about the only large native carnivores we have are Tasmanian devils and dingos - and even dingoes are not native.
