The presence of gender roles in Hinduism solely depend upon how traditional that particualr family is. A traditional Hindu family will see the father as the bread-winner and protector of the family, and the mother as the carer of the children and the housework. A more modern Hinde family will have abandoned these stereotypical, traditional roles and have the responsibilities shared evenly between the two parents.
Unlike Christianity and Islam, Hinduism is not an organized religion with a single founder and has numerous scriptures with different ideas and philosophies. It is because of this that the ideas about women are different depending on the text. The Rigveda states in the Devi Sutra that feminine energy is the force behind all creation in the universe. Certain sects, such as Shaktism, worship the divine mother as their supreme deity. Also, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada stated that the maha mantra refers to the male and female aspects of god. However, there are other texts that say women should obey their husbands and fathers.
Not in theory. However, in practice, Buddhism originated in patriarchal societies in southern Asia so that, historically, the role of women in the history of Buddhism has been less than fully recognized. Even so, the Buddha himself admitted women and men on an equal basis into his community of followers.
.
Buddhism is more of a philosophy then a religion so women can take part on an equal footing. however there are a lot of different schools of thought in Buddhism.
women were respected as Goddess and deities in Hinduism. but due to corruption of ideologies in Hinduism during medieval period their position deteriorated very badly.

Gender Roles refers to what's commonly expected of Males & Females in the society in which they live in (Gender Roles strongly reflect culture & are different in different countries) For example: female gender roles in the U.S. could be to cook, clean, take care of the children, to be caring, nurturing, & social. What's expected of males in the U.S. as far as gender roles go is much different. They're usually expected to successfully work, and earn money to support their families, to be heads of their households, as well as to being physically strong, a leader, and enforce discipline.
Gender equality and inequality affects development by having a different set of expectations for behavior from children based on gender. While gender equality is said to water down the natural abilities provided by gender roles, gender roles can also be stifling to an individuals own desires.
I believe so, but that question can only really be answered with an opinion. Different people have different ideas of gender related roles.
