Sometime in the original series. I know that they were in love by The Darkest Hour, and I believe they began to like each other in Rising Storm. They both confessed their love for each other in The Dangerous Path.
Sandstorm at least fell in love with Firestar in book three (Forest of Secrets). Maybe Firestar only fell in love with her in book four (Rising Storm), but Sandstorm had already fallen in love long before he fell in love with her.

Sandstorm likes Firestar because he is brave, loyal, and kind. Firestar saved her life and they have been through many challenges and adventures together, forming a strong bond. Their mutual respect and shared experiences have deepened their feelings for each other.

∙ 14y agoLove is a very complicated thing and is very difficult to explain, some of Firestar's love for Sandstorm may have to do with how she comforted him when he came upon hard times. One reason that Sandstorm loves Firestar may be because in book two of the original series, he saved her from falling into a gorge in a fight with Riverclan.

∙ 14y agoFirestar is Sandstorm's mate. As for Cinderpelt, Firestar didn't love her in the way he loved Sandstorm. Firestar was Cinderpelt's mentor before she was crippled in her accident at the Thunderpath. Firestar was good friends with Cinderpelt, but nothing more.

There is no way Firestar fell in love with Sandstorm during book two (Fire and Ice). He fell in love with her long after she had fallen in love with him. He couldn't have fallen in love again, anyway, so soon after Spottedleaf had died.

∙ 12y agoIn my opinion, Sandstorm likes Firestar because of all the things he's done. This is reinforced by the fact that she had hated Firestar in the first Warriors books, and then realized that he was a good cat that always thought of the Clan first. Hoep this helps! :)

Firestar was a brave and loyal warrior at the time and had helped banish Tigerclaw from ThunderClan. They were also good friends. He was chosen over Dustpelt because he was too aggresive and resented Firestar.
