The next series of games after Professor Layton 3 was announced on March 11 2009 by Level 5 the creator of the Professor Layton and the curious village. They are to be a prequel to the Professor Layton and the curious village. However the first of the three part series of games that will follow Professor Layton 3 has not even been released in the Japanese market yet. Professor Layton and the Devil's Flute (Japan release name) will be released in Japan on November 26 2009. The game is a prequel to the series and is set 3 years before the events in Professor Layton and the curious village. It tells the story of how Luke became his apprentice. At at news release where level 5 shared there future vision on August 25 2009 they indicated that the game will include an RPG mode that allows players to create their own avatar and experience life in the Layton series version of London. This bonus mode will offer a 100 hours of play time.
In the beginning of the film Layton receives a letter from an Opera singer who invites them to a performance and then asks Layton, Luke, and Remi for assistance in a mystery. The Movie takes place right after the event's of the first prequel which some have titled Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute. The movie is to be released in Japan on December 19 2009 in Japanese.
A trailer was recently released of Professor Layton Vs. Ace Attorney, and Luke was a prominent part of that trailer, so one can only assume that he either returns to Layton or it's another partial Professor Layton prequel type of thing.
Sadly, yes. At the end of the third game, (The Unwound Future) Luke can be seen boarding a ship (most likely his home town Mist Haley, you'll find out more in the fourth game, The Specter's Flute.) and tearfully wishing that he didn't have to go. The ship departs and you see Layton seeing Luke off. in the trailer, his last words were "It's been fun Luke....."
Luke left Layton at the end because Luke's father had gotten a job faraway. Luke used to live in the City of the Mist (it's all explained in the Spector's Flute). Of course, however, Luke and Layton still keep in close contact.
Luke Triton - Relationships. Mother - Brenda Triton Father - Clark Triton. Sibling's - Unknown? Home Town - Mist Harley. Hair Colour - Brunette. Luke has been in Professor Layton and the Curious Village Professor Layton and the Diabolical/Pandora's Box. Luke is also in: Professor Layton 3 and is due to make appearances in Professor Layton 4.
No, Professor Layton does not die at the end of the 3rd game, The Lost Future. Look out for the Spectres Flute, game four which obviously includes Professor Layton and Luke Triton.
