Does Oxycontin contain opium?
Oxycontin contains oxycodone which is a synthetic drug similar to morphine, which comes from opium. (Opium is about 15% opium.)
No! Both drugs are derived from opium and are also both opiates, but they are chemically different. Morphine is found naturally inside opium, and oxycodone is semi-synthetic (it's made by chemically altering The Bain (which comes from opium) ). Although they are two different drugs, they do work and feel quite similar. However, most users tend to prefer Oxycontin and feel it's a bit stronger and more euphoric.
