As an adult woman, I've had amazing results with it and very few side effects. Mostly it helps me with organizational skills and sequential thinking (normally, I'm all over the place). It also tends to help with my temper. While I wouldn't say I have a horrible temper normally, I do tend to be much more even when I'm taking Strattera. Lastly, I notice an improvement with is my ability to act in a professional manner. Here, I notice the most dramatic improvement and quite frankly, I've become afraid to go without. It's hard to be more specific without knowing me. Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: It really depends on the person, though, and how their body reacts to it (or any medication for that matter - each person is different). You don't necessarily "feel" Strattera working because it does not give the same energy or "high" like the stimulants such as Ritalin do, but you will "know" if it is working because you'll notice the improvements in yourself. If you start taking Strattera, be patient with it. It can take up to a month to start seeing results and it can take a couple of weeks for your body to adjust to the initial side effects (which can include nausea and fatigue).
I am 35 and recently diagnosed with ADHD. If I could go back in time, I would want my ADHD diagnosed when I was a child and would want Strattera to be available then. Why? Because it has made THAT big of a difference for me in my life. I'm still me, but I'm a much better, much more focused me.
I am on my second day dose of 40 mg. and it appears to be making my FM symptoms worse. I also notice a sore throat after taking it, and a heart rate of about 100 bpm.
My muscles are sore and the top of my head feels tingley. I also seem to be experiencing the sweating that other on this page have spoken about....I'm going to try it for another week or two...but I'll let you know.
Firstly; I don't want to be bombarded by e-mail, so please refrain.
I am an Internal Medicine Doc in rural Northern California. While I have not yet used Strattera in FM/CF, I am seriously considering it.
The neurochemicals it modulates Norepinephrine, and to some extent Dopamine, are important in chronic pain, depression and fatigue. In addition, in many folks, Strattera causes drowsiness which could help restore sleep patterns that are fragmented in all of these conditions.
I am going to try it in a limited number of patients in the next 6 months and will get back to you when I have the (admittedly anecdotal) experience.

This is day four of taking straterra, since the first day I noticed that I had no pain in my usual chronically painful areas for the first time in years! I certainly hope this continues. I am very happy with this med so far.
with strattera you should not take any adhd meds or abuse any medications because then it definitely will not work

I know focalin would not work because it has to stay in your system for a little while to see the good effects (side effects are usually present immediately). I have high metabolism and adderall IR and strattera didn't work for me either.
Nothing, if you can't prove that work caused this.
