The Pepsi company is not owned by any one individual or group. Publicly traded companies have shares of there company that are sold at the Stock Market to create operating capitol for the company. When the company has a growth period, the value of each individual stock rises and those who own the stock are paid accordingly.

People who own stock in companies do so as an investment in order to have their money grow. The Mormon Church does own stocks in various companies. As a general long term investment, it is a good way to make your money grow. The Mormon church may or may not own some stock in Pepsi. The Mormon Church uses it's funds to build churches and temples, and to supply relief to many areas and individuals affected by natural disasters, poverty, and other needs.
