No they do not. Some airlines will not allow children under the age of 12 change planes so make sure that if your child needs to change planes, the airline will allow him or her to do so. See they related link for more information.

Per the TSA website, No, a 12 year old does not need an ID. Only those people 18 or older are required to provide ID. Effective June 21, 2008, adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID that contains the following: name, date of birth, gender, expiration date and a tamper-resistant feature in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight.
