Most likely not, but you will need to reset the electronic fuel sending system. I know on newer GM models, this is done by putting the key in the "On" position for ten minutes, but then there is, that actually has a button to do it. Not sure how yours would work, you might want to pick the brain of your local mechanic.
Actually you turn the key to the on position for 5 seconds, back off for 5 back on for 5 etc. This cycles the pump to energize the line. You could also try spraing a little starting fluid in the throttle body to prime it as well.
I need to know where the fuel pump is located and how to get to it on a 1996 Pontiac sunfire gt
If the part number is the same and the configuration is the same then sure.
I get about 35mpg, but mine is stripped of all interior.
where is the fuel filter located on a 2003 Pontiac sunfire
Near the gas tank. It's an in-line filter.
I think I'd replace the fuel filter. That's a quick, easy, cheap place to start. FriPilot
It is in the fuel tank, and expensive ($300 USD)
Perhaps a badly clogged fuel filter?
GM does not use inertia switches.
it could have a bad air filter or the fuel is clogged some where. or the batt could be going bad.
Where is the fuel idle control valve for a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire
On average a 1995 Pontiac Sunfire will get about 36 miles per gallon of fuel.
Under the car by the fuel tank
If you pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual, you'll find all of the fuel system test procedures and requirements. FriPilot
tug the hose Drop the fuel tank, disconnect lines, remove pump and unit, reverse procedure to install.
My car won't. Start no power to the fuel pump because of the antitheft
it at the back of your gas tank
The fuel filter on a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire is in the rear between the fuel tank and the rear axle. By the way its under the car and easy to change takes about 10 minutes.
The fuel pump is located in the gas tank
Try back near the fuel tank. if it is the same as my sunfire it is right behind the gas tank.
I know that on a '96 the fuel filter is an in-line type near the fuel tank. As Pontiac hasn't really altered much on the Sunfire in over ten years, I'd suggest starting there.
you will get a hint when the car begins to lose power, start to sputter, or even stall.
If its BLACK smoke it's unburned fuel. If it has carb, the carb float is too high or sunk. If it has fuel injection it's a stuck (open) fuel injector.
It is important to know the general location of the parts in a car. The 2001 Pontiac Sunfire fuel injector is located under the hood, right in front of the engine cover under the hood of the car.Ê
My wifes old Cavelier (which is basically the same car) it was located in the trunk .... left rear end.
