Best Answer

No

With some exceptions in the 1950's and before. Some early diesels started on gasoline with spark plugs and then switched to diesel when the engine was warmeed up.

What is defference between disel engine and petrol engine?

Diesel engines have a far higher compression which allows the diesel fuel to explode without the use of a spark plug.

Why does a Diesel engine not use a spark plug?

A diesel engine works by compressing its fuel (which raises its temperature). When it has been compressed to a certain point its temperature is raised sufficiently for it to ignite by itself, without the need of an external spark.

Why twin spark is used only in petrol engine?

Diesel engines do not use spark plugs to ignite the fuel. Instead they use the actual compression of the piston to ignite the fuel. To start a diesel engine a glow-plug is used, once the engine has started the compression causes the ignition. As a results of this diesel engine blocks are heavier to take the force of the ignition

How do you check an engine for spark?

Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug. Use some heavy gloves or a set of insulated pliers to hold the spark plug wire about 1/4-inch from the engine block (ground) and crank the engine - you should see a spark jump from the wire to the engine ground. For a better check, use another spark plug and put it on the spark plug wire and use it as a "jumper" from the wire to the engine ground.

Why in petrol engine spark plug is used but not in diesel engine?

Diesel engines run much higher compression than petrol engines. The higher compression makes the air in the cylinder so hot that the fuel self ignites. A petrol engine doesn't get warm enough for self ignition, so you have to add a spark from the spark plug to ignite the fuel.

If you have a 350 v8 diesel engines do you use diesel gas?
