It is not an easy answer, but it is noteworthy to state the facts. Foxes hunt by pouncing, and being stealthy unlike the endurance hunters of wolves and dogs. additionally foxes have cat like whiskers, there claws actually retract on their command unlike wolves and dogs paws. Foxes are not pack animals like wolves and dogs. Foxes will play with there kill just like felines do, which wolves and dogs do not display this behavior. Offically biologists do accept that foxes are quite different from wolves and dogs, but they have not re-categorized foxes into the Feline part of the animal tree as of yet.

The The south american foxes, or zorros are in the Lycalopex Family, & are referred to as "False Foxes".
