Baking soda is an antacid, and works as well as any other over-the-counter antacid. It neutralizes stomach acid that is present. It is short acting, however, as the stomach will continue to produce acid. Drugs such as Pepcid and Tagamet act by preventing secretion of stomach acid. They take a bit longer to work initially, but are much longer acting. For an occasional bout of dyspepsia baking soda may help; for chronic heartburn/reflux, the blocking agents are much more effective.
That was the "household cure" for heartburn, or acid reflux, before more specific remedies were created. It's an okay emergency measure, but not a good one to use regularly, as it messes with the pH of the stomach and puts WAY too much sodium into the body.
Yes it does lower the acidity, however my guess is that the amount of baking soda you would need to completely neutralize the acid in coffee would significantly change the taste of the coffee. I add a pinch to my coffee to smooth out the taste a bit.
Definitely, baking soda is a base so it will neutralise the acid.
Do you have stomach pains?
1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda to 4 oz of water.
Baking soda in water is sometimes used for heartburn, but it is not the best thing. It relieves the initial pain from stomach acid, but it also stimulates the production of even more acid.

Trona is a mineral. In its form of soda ash, Trona can be used to make paper. It can also be added to water to reduce acidity and as an additive to soaps and detergent to make them more alkaline. Baking soda and baking powder come from Trona.
yes
You should use baking soda when you washing clothes or you can put it in drinks.
Not sure what the question is asking.Baking soda cannot replace baking powder. Baking powder will raise a batter by itself; baking soda requires additional ingredients with which to react and raise the batter. For a homemade recipe for baking powder, see here: http://frugalliving.about.com/od/condimentsandspices/r/Baking_Powder.htmAn additional note: baking powder will go bad over time, so if your recipes are turning out flat instead of fluffy, try getting some new baking powder.
