Hi! I used baby oil for my kids hair when treating for headlice and found that it worked fantastically! Not only did it make getting the lice out but also the eggs too! They just slipped out and into the comb they went. Its all i use now.. Krystal
I've dealt with many cases of head lice before and baby oil is just a myth. It will not kill the lice. Lice can live in liquids for 14 hours, therefor it dose not kill them. But you can use baby oil for loosening the lice's grip on the hair. So if you have short hair I would say about 30 minutes, If medium length hair then leave in for 1 hour and for long hair leave in for 2-3 hours. After it is soaked in the oil then you must take a fine tip metal nit comb to comb them out.
Apparently head lice can survive up to just over 50c.
1st degree burns start at 50c -> 60c. So.. if it is so hot that you can just about stand it WITHOUT burning yourself, and the temperature is maintained for a good few minutes, then yes you might kill a few of them.
Far simpler to get a proper solution though, and definitely less potential for pain!
And head lice are VERY hard to suffocate, they go into this suspended state when submerged in water (or oil), so no it won't suffocate them.
If you tie it down. If you put it in your hair they won't like it because they'll slip off. Tie it down with the grease and they should sufficate. After, you'll have to use a nit comb to get the nits off, the shampoo nor does baby oil kills the eggs until they are born.
Baby Oil works, and there are products specially designed for getting head lice out
Yes. But the oil has to be worn on the head regularly. Lice hate the smell of the oil and hence will stay away from the head or even if it gets onto the head, it will die out of fatigue.
yes there is cure for head lice its normal to get head lice so the best cure is to put gas oil on the hair and then brush it good in the shower and its the best cure because the gas will kill all the nits and the eggs
Neither will kill lice. You need to go to the store and buy the shampoo that is made for lice. Follow the directions. You also need to strip your bed and wash the sheets, clean combs and brushes, disinfect hats and other clothing. The lice can reinfect you if you don't do this.
Yes hair grease does acctually prevent lice in your head. It is just like oil and makes your head oily, which lice and nits do not like
Though there is scientific evidence to support that heat will kill head lice, the risk of possibly scalding the scalp with the flat iron is a risk. Lice lay their eggs very close to the scalp. Nits usually hatch by the time the hair has grown 1/4 inch. in some cases it is only good for preventing them since they do not like the smell.. but in this it must be 100% tea tree oil.. it is however likely that it will kill them if you leave it on your head or leave it in a shower cap on your head overnight
According to the department of public health, mayonaise is not a useful tool for killing head lice. It doesn't shampoo out fully and will spoil in your hair. You should use olive oil. Olive oil will suffocate the lice, not spoil in your hair, and wash out thoroughly.
yes hairdressers can get head lice. however, it does depends on how close your hairdresser gets close to you! i had nits and i went to the hairdressers and they didn't say anything, but some hair salons will say something! it is better to be safe than sorry :) i use cooking oil. Good luck :)
An alternative treatment for head lice is tea tree oil, sometimes called melaleuca oil. Tea tree oil appears to work well in treating head lice that have developed resistance to other preparations.
The most effective way i found to kill head lice is: "Tea tree oil" That's right just have it massaged gently into you're scalp, and it will kill fungus as well as lice on you're head. Tea tree oil fits that criteria because of its versatility. The cool thing is you can personally add it to you're shampoo!!! just add about a teaspoon to a 1/2 ounce of shampoo then lather it it gently, giving yourself a enjoyable massage, as far as the oil part i wouldn't worry about it weighing your hair down since oil is beneficiary for you're scalp, it will just give you a nice sheen or natural shine, restoring your natural pH balance!!!
Some home remedies for head lice are: Mayonnaise Vaseline t tree oil vinegar nutrigena shampoo- leave in for 10 minutes come it out for 7 days
