Filtration will remove ALL solid particles regardless of their size. To separate materials based on the size of their particles one would use a process of sieving, using a sieve stack with a smaller and smaller mesh size.

Not so much on particle size, but more on solubility. For example, you can have a large ion that is in solution, and you cannot use filtration to separate it. But if you have a small ion that is NOT soluble, then you can use filtration to separate it.

What is the basis for separating mixtures using a centrifuge?

what are the methods used to separates components of mixtureYou could let the mixture sit and the components would layer up based on density. You could use a centrifuge to make the above happen faster. If the components have different boiling points, such as if you mix salt and water, boil the water away and you will be left with salt.

How do you remove undissolved solids from water?

you can evaporate the liquid with heat the solids will not evaporate with it

I Need to separate two substances in a compound how would you seaparared?

There are several methods to separate substances in a compound, depending on their properties. Some common methods include distillation (for separating liquids with different boiling points), filtration (for separating solids from liquids), and chromatography (for separating substances based on their differing properties). The choice of method depends on the specific substances and their physical or chemical characteristics.

What is reverse osmosis centrifuge?

Reverse osmosis and centrifuge are two separate processes, and they are not typically used together. Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove impurities and contaminants from water. It works by applying pressure to force water through the membrane, leaving behind particles, ions, and other impurities. A centrifuge, on the other hand, is a piece of equipment used to separate components of a liquid or particles from a suspension by spinning them at high speeds. It separates materials based on their density and size. So, there is no such thing as a "reverse osmosis centrifuge" as a single, combined process. These are distinct methods used for different purposes in various industries, such as water treatment and laboratory applications.

What is a wire mesh with gauze and how is it used?

A wire mesh with gauze refers to a material that combines a wire mesh and a gauze layer. It is typically used in various applications where both strength and filtration properties are required. The wire mesh component consists of interwoven wires, creating a grid-like pattern with evenly spaced openings. This mesh provides structural support and durability to the material. It can be made from different metals such as stainless steel, copper, or aluminum, depending on the intended use. The gauze layer, on the other hand, is a fine mesh fabric usually made from cotton, nylon, or other synthetic materials. It features a tight weave with small openings, which enables it to act as a filter. The gauze helps trap and separate particles, dust, or debris, allowing air or liquid to pass through while preventing larger particles from passing. The wire mesh with gauze is commonly used in various industries and applications. Here are a few examples: Filtration: It is used as a filter medium in air filters, oil filters, water filtration systems, and laboratory equipment. The combination of wire mesh and gauze effectively captures and removes contaminants from the fluid or gas being filtered. Sieving and Separation: The wire mesh with gauze is utilized in sieving applications, where it helps separate particles of different sizes. It is commonly employed in industries such as mining, agriculture, and food processing to sort and classify materials based on their particle sizes. Insect Screens: The fine gauze layer in wire mesh with gauze makes it suitable for insect screens on windows and doors. It allows fresh air and light to enter while preventing insects and bugs from entering the living or working space. Arts and Crafts: Wire mesh with gauze can be used in artistic and creative projects. It can be shaped and molded to create sculptures, decorative elements, jewelry, and other crafts. Overall, the combination of wire mesh and gauze provides strength, durability, and filtration capabilities, making it a versatile material used in a wide range of applications.

Can Filtration can be used to separate mixtures based on their boiling point?

It is not possible; filtration as a separating method is based on the difference between boiling points.

What are laboratory apparatus made from clay?

Laboratory apparatus made from clay primarily include porous ceramic materials such as porcelain and fire clay. These materials are used to create a range of equipment, including crucibles, evaporating dishes, and filtration apparatus like Buchner funnels. Clay-based laboratory apparatus are known for their excellent heat resistance, chemical stability, and thermal shock resistance, which make them suitable for various high-temperature applications and chemical reactions. Additionally, their porous nature allows them to efficiently filter and separate solid particles from liquids in filtration processes.

Can crude oil be be split up into fraction using filteration?

No, crude oil is a mixture of many components that can be separated using distillation. Filtration only removes small amounts of impurities based on particle size, but does not actually separate.
