Yes. Green tea has some vitamin C, whereas black tea has none. The oxidation process used to create black tea destroys the Vitamin C.

The amount of vitamin C in green tea is small but measurable, usually about 2-5% of RDA per cup. It's not enough to act as a primary source of vitamin C in the diet, but it's enough that someone who drinks a lot of very fresh tea may be getting some benefit from it.

The amount of Vitamin C in tea varies hugely. In general, green tea contains a small amount of Vitamin C, and black tea contains none. Most other types of tea contain either no Vitamin C or only trace amounts.

The amount in green tea is variable, but tends to be small, typically 2-5% of your recommended daily allowance in a cup of freshly brewed tea, assuming the tea was fresh. As the tea is stored, the Vitamin C breaks down to where, after a couple years after the tea is produced, there is very little left.

We all know that tea is beloved by people all over the world. Both black tea and green tea are made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis plant. The main difference between them is that black tea oxidized and green tea is not.

To make black tea, the leaves are first rolled and then exposed to air to trigger the oxidation process. This reaction causes the leaves to turn dark brown and allows the flavors to heighten and intensify.

Whereas, green tea is processed to prevent oxidation and thus much lighter in color than black tea.

Here are the benefits of both black and green tea:

1- Can protect your heart

2- May boost brain function

Green and black tea provide similar health benefits, including for your heart and brain. While green tea may contain more powerful antioxidants, the evidence does not strongly favor one tea over the other. Both contain the stimulant caffeine and L-theanine, which has a calming effect.

Green tea is supposed to have vitamin C more so than a single orange but doesn't adding the hot water to it kill the vitamin C same for vegetable soups how come they have nutrition in them after heat?

The statement that Green tea has "more vitamin C than a single orange" is a baseless myth. Statements like that are sometimes made as bogus health claims by companies trying to promote their own green tea products. The amount of Vitamin C in green tea varies by type, but it tends to range from between 2%-10% of recommended daily allowance (RDA), per cup. An orange, by contrast, tends to contain around 100% of the RDA. About heat, heat does cause Vitamin C to break down, but heating something to boiling still preserves much of the Vitamin C. Even things heated well above boiling still will have some Vitamin C, just less than before they were heated.
