I have had the same problem myself, could be the ribbon cables loose to the screen or could be something else, first thing I would do is reload the machine 2 or 4 times, that would steer you in the right way,if it did not cure the problem you would know the screen is the problem.

If it is an lcd screen which I'm assuming it is then one of the lamps in the back of the screen has probable blown which is causing it to appear dark. or you could have damaged something else inside of it but that is usually the problem that occurs with a half back washed out screen.
